LibGuides for Learning

Welcome to LibGuides!  What in the world is a LibGuide, anyway?

LibGuides are customized electronic guides that Teacher Librarians create to better help students with their research.  This site IS a LibGuide! They are accessible from anywhere at any time and can be linked to directly from any website.  Each guide is customized to a particular class or grade-level, so students can know which resources and strategies will suit their purpose.  Teacher Librarians can embed files, links, RSS feeds, videos, and custom widgets, as well as link directly to electronic databases and technology tools.

You will find all the information for how to manage your LibGuide under the "Technology" tab.

Technology in the Classroom

Teacher Librarians and school libraries play a lead role in supporting technology within the school.  The teacher librarian supports both the physical tools and the virtual tools which students and teachers need for learning.

Collaboration: Building a Learning Commons

Teacher Librarians provide support for curricular instruction through coaching, co-planning and co-teaching, as well as through the provision of resources, both digital and physical.

Inquiry in the Classroom

Inquiry is at the center of the Saskatchewan Curriculum

“Inquiry-based learning describes a range of philosophical, curricular, and pedagogical approaches to teaching.  Its core premises include the requirement that learning should be based around students’ questions."

(Daniels, H. & Harvey, S., 2009, p.56)
